Hey Herald, the early Christian church changed the day of worship to the first day of the week in remembrance of the resurrection. The Roman Catholic church didn't change the day of worship, it was the Jewish Christians. What would it take for the Jews (early church) to willingly give up a theological tradition that gave them their national identity? Only the resurrection! Plus the Holy Spirit's decent was on Pentecost Sunday. (My wife is making dinner so please respond and I'll check back later.)

The Catholic Church changed the day to Sunday at the Council of Laodicea 364 A.D.

"Do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ." Colossians 2:16-17
